Our Story

The Tennessee Campus Democracy Network was created by a founding group of students, faculty, staff and administrators that came together to discuss their unique perspectives on student voting and civic literacy on their campuses.

Those discussions lead us to recognize an opportunity on college campuses to address the systemic and personal barriers affecting student voting.

The TCDN designed and advanced a shared agenda to confront those barriers by creating spaces to foster civic growth and offer students easy and equal access to accurate information on voting.

The Tennessee Campus Democracy Network promotes civic learning and engagement on campuses throughout TN. Our annual Campus Civic Summits provide student led workshops and host panels of local and national experts in student voting, campus organizing, and civic education.

Since our inception in 2017, the Network has evolved into Tennessee’s only statewide network dedicated to leading nonpartisan support for student voting and civic literacy. Together, we reexamine, reaffirm, re-energize, and recommit to the best practices that foster civic capacity in the next generation of Tennessee citizens.
